Why Home School? Some very quick answers, in no particular order. 1. Because I love it! I love being with my kids, I love having them home, I love teaching them. 2. Because I get to decide what they are learning and how. 3. Because I can teach them Christian values that cannot be taught in ps. 4. Because it takes LESS time! We are usually finished by noon. 5. Because it gives them more time to be kids. 6. Because I am not at the mercy of the school's schedule. 7. Because we can take a day off because the weather is just too wonderful to spend the day inside. 8. Because they have more time to spend with grandparents. 9. Because we have more family time together. 10. Because they can learn at their own paces -- be that fast or slow. 11. Because they don't have to proceed until they fully understand a concept. 12. Because I can gear each child's education to his/her own learning style. 13. Because each child has the freedom to explore extra topics that he/she finds truly interesting. 14. Because it brings us closer together as a family. 15. Because my kids don't have to be exposed to peer pressure. 16. Because the toddler can be part of the older kids' lives. 17. Because we can school through the summer when it's too hot to do anything else and then take extended breaks at Christmas. 18. BECAUSE IT'S FUN! :-) ------------ My sister-in-law's thoughts on joining HSLDA: Even if I never need to be represented, the money is spent helping others. And if I do need it, look out -- this mama's got TEETH. HSLDA membership is cheaper than keeping a dozen coonhounds and more humane than a hiney full of birdshot! ;-)
